LECTURES

Lecture 1 : MIB Briefing & History of Information Visualisation

07.01.19 (Week 1)

In this week, we briefed on our upcoming exercises and projects for this module with Ms Anis. Here is the link to our assignment brief: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ngADOd9LtTpOKFNjm2pIujOlg7MTjc5mhqQmIRl26wM/edit?usp=sharing

Then, we moved on to our first lecture on the history of information visualisation.

From this lecture, we learned that visuals play an important role in information design because people respond well to visuals more than texts as we live in a visual information culture.

Lecture 2 : Flip Topic 1 : Manuel Lima's 9 Directives Manifesto

09.01.19 (Week 1)

EXERCISES

Exercise  1 : AE Basic

08.01.19

For this exercise, we need to make a simple and minimalistic infographic. We were given some topics (car, animals and movie) to choose from and we were tasked to make a short video consisting of 30 seconds about the topic that we have chose. I decided to make a video about animals where I wanted to compare these 2 different breed of dogs which were pug and bulldog. Firstly, I used Adobe Illustrator to illustrate and make it in layers. Then, I continued to animate my video in Adobe After Effects with adding transitions.

EXERCISES

Exercise 1 : Buttons Information

08.01.19 - 14.01.19 (Week 1)

We were given numerous buttons with different colours, textures, sizes and numbers of holes. We needed to make a data collection to create an information/infographic poster of buttons. The information should be presented in an illustrative visual manner.

We are free to use any method to do this exercise such as collage, digital illustration, hand-drawn and etc in A4.

Every one of us would be choosing the color of the buttons and do a data collection of the buttons that we had chosen. After collecting all of the data, we will share with our classmates because we had to do at least 5 different colours of the buttons.

For the next exercise, we had to make a 30 seconds silent video about Pokemon's presenting each principles of L.A.T.C.H.

Here is the links for pokemons :  https://www.pokemon.com/us/pokedex

I organise the Pokemons first and categorised them according to the principles.
